Incumbent Prime Minister of Excellent Britain Gordon Brown was campaigning for upcoming elections, and he recently committed a serious gaffe. Unbeknownst to the Prime Minister, his microphone was nevertheless on when he referred to Gillian Duffy as a bigoted woman. The resulting fallout of the Gordon Brown “bigoted” remarks has cast a bit of a shadow on the Prime Minister. There is a valid concern that the upcoming election will result in a hung parliament. That takes a lot more than a money advance or two of campaign funds to sort out, if it occurs.
The origin of the Gordon Brown bigoted scandal
Brown was out campaigning in Rochdale, part of Manchester (there are people there apart from a soccer team evidently), and had a brief dialogue with 65 year old Gillian Duffy. After speaking with her for a moment or two, the Prime Minister returned to his car. He started castigating his aides for allowing the discussion to happen, that he never should are put in a position to talk to her, and that she was a “sort of bigoted woman,” according to The Guardian. It is like he wants to give the opposition a quick payday.
The plot thickens
First in his concerns, when chewing out his staff, was that television would broadcast the exchange. The really amusing part is that he said all this forgetting his lapel mic was still on. It also just so happens that Gillian Duffy is a thorough supporter of the Labor Party and had voted for Brown previously. She won’t be any more.
Attempts at making amends
Prime Minister Brown, as outlined by The Telegraph, phoned Mrs. Duffy personally and apologized. His remarks reportedly made her hopping mad. .
Right into opposition hands
This is entirely a bad time for Brown. Nick Clegg and the emerging Liberal Democrats are making the aim of Labor or Conservative parties from establishing a parliamentary majority. There hasn’t been a hung parliament within the UK since 1974, when it took 8 months to resolve.
